If you are looking to know what to do in Toronto for a weekend you are at the right place!
Toronto is a multicultural city and has several individual neighbourhoods with a lot of culture. Toronto is easily walkable and a weekend in the city is enough to get a first look.
Saturday Morning
To start off the day nothing better than getting some fresh pancakes and maple syrup. We went to Evviva and were pleased with the dish, the maple syrup was amazing. We also had a salmon bagel.
After having a full breakfast, it is time for a visit to the center of the city starting by Gooderham Building also known as Flatiron Building.
It is a historic office of 1892 located on the east end of the Financial District in the St. Lawrence neighbourhood. Next heads towards the St. Lawrence Market, open since 1803 it was named the ‘best food market in the world’ by National Geographic magazine. It is divided into 2 areas, the North Market hosts the locals and their fresh produces; the South Market has over 110 food stalls which sell a variety of food of all over the world, French, Canadian, Spanish… you name it. The peameal bacon sandwich, a classic of Toronto.
It is a great place to have lunch or grab a snack.

Saturday Afternoon
Finishing up at the market, your next stop will be Toronto Dundas Square which is known to be like a little Times Square from New York!
The square is surrounded by several screens, during festivities in the city the square organizes some concerts and catering. I was there during the Trinidad and Tobago events where we could discover their music and food, it was an amazing moment.
Right infront of Dundas Square is CF Toronto Eaton Centre, it’s a shopping mall with over 230 stores and restaurants. To finish up the day, you can walk to the City Hall and get a look at the same time at the Old City Hall.

For dinner I recommend to get something on the go and stay at HTO Park or Toronto Music Garden, you will have great views on Toronto Islands and the shore, especially during sunset.

Sunday Morning
For day 2 it will be concentrated on 2 activities:
– CN Tower
– Toronto Islands
Reserve a time slot in the morning (9am) to avoid the long queues. The main observation deck is at 346 metres, and there is a glass-floored section just below that will allow you to get a great view of the city.
Next to the CN Tower is the Rogers Centre, which is the home of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. If you have the opportunity to get tickets for a game it is a fantastic taste of Canadian culture.

Sunday Afternoon
To get to Toronto Islands you will need to take a ferry that is available on the harbour front. There are 3 destinations Ward’s Island (West), Centre Island, Hanlan’s Point (East), a roundtrip is $10 and you can find schedules online.
I would suggest going to Ward’s Island get a lunch at Cafe Island and then walk to Centre Island. There are many activities, kayak, canoe, quadricycle, riding bikes ($10/hour).It is a great destination for a chill day but still discovering new places, in Centre Island there is a amusement park for kids called Centreville.

If you have more time there is much more you can do and visit in Toronto, here are some ideas:
– Kensington Market (West side)
– Little Italy
– Casa Loma
– Walk of Fame
– Niagara Falls
