On the last weekend of October I decided to fly to Maine and visit Acadia National Park!
We flew from New York JFK to Bangor Airport in Maine, from there it’s a 2:30 hour drive to arrive in the park. We stayed at Atlantic Oceanside Hotel & Conference Center, its location is great; you are at about a 20min drive from the park and the view from your bedroom will be a dream come true…the Ocean right infront of you.

What to expect on a 2 day trip to Acadia?
For our first day, we decided to wake up early and get to Cadillac Mountain to see the sunrise, at that time of year we were there at 6:20AM. Prepare to arrive early, the parking spots are limited and it can get pretty crowded when the sun is about to come out! Why is it so well-known? It is the first sunrise in the United States, the sun touches this part of the country first!

Do not forget to look for permits during your stay! You will need a vehicle reservation between May 25 and October 22 (year of 2023) in order to access Cadillac Mountain, there is an additional fee ($4 for daytime and sunrise). The reservations need to be made on the website directly.
After getting a breath of fresh air with the beautiful sunrise you will be prepared for your hike of the day!
We weren’t sure on what to expect from it, it was… brutal but extraordinary at the same time? We did the Champlain Mountain + Beehive Loop Hike, it takes around 4 hours to complete and the views from it are amazing. However, be prepared to hike for a long periode of time, the elevation is approximately 630 for both mountains combined and you will need to crawl up some rocks.
But I assure you it is all worth it at the end. What I loved about this hike was being able to push myself into doing something I would have never done before, you encounter so many people and from all around the world, if you have a chance you will see many wildlife too.

After all of the hard work done it’s time to get some rest on the beach. We had a picnic on Sand Beach! First of all we were extremely lucky with the weather, on Saturday it was sunny and 20 degrees celsius, incredible! We enjoyed some time at the beach and the sun, seeing people swim on the 28th of October in Maine, purely amazing.

For the rest of the afternoon we continued to follow the map around the park and stopped on multiple locations:
THUNDER HOLE

OTTER POINT

JORDAN POND

BUBBLE POND

MONT DESERT

BASS HARBOR HEAD LIGHTHOUSE IN SOUTHWEST HARBOR

Another place to visit?
Bar Harbor! It’s filled with restaurants, cafes and all kinds of shops. I found all my souvenirs in a cute shop over there.

We got a goat cheese and fig pizza at Blaze, a Cod burger at Beerworks and finished with a sweet touch at Ben & Bill’s with a huge vanilla ice cream sundae!
