Where was I during Thanksgiving weekend? I travelled to the Bahamas for the first time! Paradise Island in Nassau, we stayed in an Airbnb for 5 days.

How to spend 5 days in heaven? Below are my recommendations for you.
SPOILER ALERT: there is swimming everyday of course
Tips to start:
- Stay in Paradise Island, either a hotel or an airbnb, you will feel safer being in this part of the island.
- If you can, rent a car, there are no ubers or lyfts in Nassau, you will need to find a taxi everyday if you want to go to other beaches or go grocery shopping in Nassau, a car will be the best option for you. We were charged $450 for 4 days, it was quickly in favor for us since a one-way ride from Nassau’s airport to Paradise Island is around $80 (depends also on your plans to move around the island.)
- In the Bahamas they have their own Bahamian dollar, however it is basically the same currency as the American dollar so both dollars are accepted on the Island.
DAY 1:
For a first swim we went straight to Cabbage Beach, a public beach in the North of Paradise Island. The water was crystal clear and I have never seen these shades of blue, it was amazing! I had the opportunity to discover different kinds of fish and swim in the blue ocean with a stingray. For a first swim in the Caribbeans it was a core memory.

DAY 2:
On our second day we decided to go to Jaws Beach which is a beach located this time on the west side of Nassau, not Paradise Island. This beach was breathtaking (yes they were all amazing!) Once again the water was turquoise, we had goggles and since the water was so clear we swam for 2 hours straight searching for rocks, shells, fish and much more. We were very lucky since we saw many other kinds of fish but also starfish, crabs and a turtle!
At the end of the day we decided to try a local restaurant in Nassau called « Wild Thyme » we tried out the Conch fritters, a traditional Bahamian dish, which is fried batter with Conch (a shellfish of the Bahamas), meat and vegetables, I also tried their Shrimp Alfredo Pasta. The food and service was great, I highly recommend.

DAY 3:
Third day and a third beach! We went once again to the west side of Nassau, to Love Beach, but it’s before Jaws Beach so not that far. To access Love Beach you will need to go through a restaurant/bar that charges $5 per person. The beach was pretty but there were way more rocks, it was difficult to swim since we could get caught in the water flow, be careful of sea urchins they were pretty present over there.
After the beach we went to the Straw Market in Nassau to buy souvenirs! One of their local souvenirs is the Rhum Cake available in various flavors (Original, Chocolate, Coconut, Banana…)
At the end of the day we ate at the Airbnb and then prepared ourselves to go out to the Aura Club at the Atlantis to celebrate one of my friends birthday!

DAY 4:
For our last full day we had a pretty chill day by the pool of our Airbnb. In the evening we had a reservation for a « Sail Catamaran Sunset Dinner Cruise« , we found the cruise on get your guide.
The sunset on the boat was amazing, the staff of Seahorse Sailing Adventures was incredible as well as the Bahamian buffet, I can only recommend this activity.

DAY 5:
On the last day, we decided to go to Cabbage Beach to see the sunrise. Alarm set for 5:40 AM, rise and shine!
The colors of the sky blending into the ocean were mesmerizing, and even though it was 6 AM, the ocean was pretty warm. We enjoyed a brunch on the beach and swam one last time in the Caribbeans.
